Dottie's story

My name is Dotti W., I discovered that I had Hepatitis C, at age 56, quite by accident about 3 years ago. I had been feeling awful and had quite a few test run over the past few years. During a colonoscopy my doctor said that he was going to run a Hep C test. A week later I received word that I had Hepatitis C. Needless to say I was in shock. Over 32 years prior I had had 6 units of blood during a ruptured eptopic pregnancy, and this is the most likely place I could have gotten it. My viral count was 2,900,000.

Because my mother had died an alcoholic I had abstained from alcohol my entire life, and I am quite, thankful for that. My Dr. told me that I would have been dead of advanced alcohol poisoning by now had I not. Because of my lifestyle my liver had only two tiny spots. The Dr. suggested I go on interferon and ribitol, which I did for only 2 1/2 months. The treatment nearly killed me…. my blood count dropped to below .0 and I was begging to just die I was so sick. Finally after 2 1/2 months I was taken off. I began taking Milk Thistle and eating natural foods and drinking tons of fluids. I started clearing my mind of all negative thoughts and with the help of family and friends I was able to regain complete control of my health and life again.

I have been below 600 for over 2 years now and have reclaimed my health. I totally believe that the mind and body are connected. When we let ourselves become controlled by our sick bodies and give up… we give up as I did. My favorite saying is: Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift… that is why we call it the "present". Thank you for letting me share.
